Here at Brass Tacks we are always delighted to be involved with prestigious and iconic brands, helping them deliver exquisite surroundings for their customers to enjoy. This was the case recently where we became involved with the refurbishment of The Varsity Hotel in Cambridge.
The Varsity Hotel was opened in 2010 by Will Davies alongside his business partner Tariq Mahmood with the ultimate goal of delivering a high quality hotel experience for discerning clientele. The refurbishment was designed to be a chic interior with additional delicate touches of class and style.
Will chose to include antique brass stair nosing to the main staircase and the spa stair case totalling an impressive 125 identical stair nosing that all had to match in both style and finish to ensure continuity. Once we had received the order from Will, we set about cutting, drilling and bespoke toning to ensure we delivered them within budget and on time. We are pleased to say that we delivered the stair nosing in just 12 working days.
Will said ‘we wanted something that was practical but looked really classy, as we had already laid the carpet without nosing and we needed something that would look good when retro-fitted. Brass Tacks sent some examples, one of which looked really good and also was able to be laid on top of the existing carpet. We went back with a full order for the hotel and spa and liaised with Brass Tacks as to the best position for screw holes so it looked good and was firmly in place.’ Will went on to say ‘ We are very happy we got all the stairs done as it has stopped the edges wearing and looks really good, the antique brass has added to the look of the entire staircase and fits in really well with the rest of the interior surrounding the stairs.’
